This is Zephira's third year teaching for Bet Sefer Avraham. She comes to us with tons of enthusiasm and creativity. The children adore her sunny disposition and her clear limit setting. It is a love-fest in Kitah Alef. Zephira has a terrific way of inspiring the children and getting them to recall the material she is covering.
We are so lucky this year to have Eugene Gordin co-teaching our Kitah Alef class again. This is Eugene's second year here at Bet Sefer Avraham. Eugene is a PhD student at Cal Berkeley in Structural Engineering and Public Policy. But he has a passion for working with children and we couldn't be more delighted to have him join us. Eugene brings a great sense of humor, patience and a fabulous attitude.
Dear Kitah Alef Parents,
Music was first up on the agenda this week, letting us start our day by singing along with Rabbi Bloom. From the sanctuary we headed to our classroom, where we reviewed our Hebrew letters and words, adding one more to our list:
With a list this long, we encourage all of you to go over the vocabulary and letters with your child in order to reinforce what they’re learning in class.
After break and snack, we started our Purim unit, playing a game with the kids that tested their knowledge of the Purim story & characters. After the game, Zephira treated the class to a finger-pupper rendition of the entire Story, which the kinds greatly enjoyed. Most of them knew the Purim story very well, and those that didn’t were excited to learn (see the photos below or our photo album).
Have a great weekend!
